Act 2
[After a confrontation with her (former? Were they ever?) friends, and several failed attempts to sway people to the side of the spirit of shadows, Rue ran away. There was no one to tell and, as far as she knew, no one to come looking, either. Even Twila abandoned her as she ran, south down the same path she’d taken into the village not three weeks before.
You see, the failures were hers. It was Rue that denied the influence of something that wanted her to turn others to her will. Its will. Nobody would know that she ran, of course, because she hid. In the same small forest dwelling that she first used, with its stock of unlikely to spoil food and its proximity to the lake and river. Running had no point if she just came crawling back again the next day, trying to appease…something, anything that would accept it.
Now, some days later, she is completely out of food and the slice from Mytho’s sword isn’t getting any better. It seems she has no choice but to return to the village proper and figure things out from there. The messages inside her journal indicated that they were working on some kind of solution for those still “possessed”; maybe they’ve found it by now.
The walk seems much longer in her current state, hot and tired and unsure of what she will find when she gets there. Rue remembers seeing and hearing about a clinic, and she thinks she should get there, but can’t seem to manage how. Or where, for that matter. When she reaches the village edge she wanders between the houses, keeping to what shadows exist.
Until she backs straight into someone, that is.]
[Later, after the escapades and the slinking around and, above all, discovering that a great deal of the village was “normal” again, she sits in the quiet alone and opens her book with intent for the first time, writing in shaky letters with her weaker hand.]
Is it always like this? Strange changes that turn everyone against each other? [A pause for anyone watching, but one that won't register later.] What did she want from us?
[[ooc: All avenues are, as usual, open. Which means! The 'someone' in the action bit isn't designated, it can be anybody. It can be more than one body but please only living (animate, you know) ones.]]

At least he looks like himself. There is no way to get past without walking right by him - if there is a way, she's too anxious to see herself through it - but if she goes as quickly and quietly as she can, then maybe.]

Rue.
[Spoken plainly, without emotion. He knows he hasn't seen her since that time, that odd dark time, but he doesn't know what to make of it.]

Still.]
I'll keep going. [As awful as she feels, it would be worse to stay and let him say anything more destructive.]

[The someone turns out to be familiar and Souji looks down at her, curiously.]
Hello, Rue-san. Are you alright?
action;
I. I'm. [It is too slow to be a stammer, but she'll get there.] I'm so sorry.
action;
You don't need to apologise. Are you alright? I haven't seen you around the village lately.

Hello.
Action;
I didn't see you there. [Not looking where she walks is going to get her into trouble. She's tired and not thinking straight, and leans against the nearest wall, trying not to make it obvious.]
Action;
Are you ok?
Action;
I don't. I don't know. Are people...still flying around?

When he notices the girl about to back into him, his whole body practically gives a shrill warning by causing pain in all of his limbs. He doesn't have enough time to just side-step her, but he backs out of the way with a frown on his face and reaches out to give her shoulders a tap.]
Sorry - Hey. [No no no I need to get away this isn't Billy I can't be here it hurts]
[action]
She also looks lost and more than a little disoriented.]
I should have watched where I walked.
[action]
Are you okay?

I'm looking for... [Come on, Rue. What were you looking for? Even if it is hard to admit it to anyone?] Help.

Other things happen with different effects, though.

That guilt and sadness is also why he isn't paying as much attention as he usually would; Rue backs right into him before he even realizes that she's there.]
Forgive me, I should have been paying more attention to my surroundings.
[Never mind that it wasn't really his fault.]
[Action]
No, it's, I wasn't looking. [More like, she was trying not to be seen and that translated to only looking forward.]
[Action]
The smile he gives her is tired but kind as he shakes his head to show that he doesn't mind being collided with at all.]
